73 Miller St, North Sydney
Scan and model forms the entire platform for design and documentation
This prominent building adjacent to North Sydney train station is receiving an extensive refurbishment including a whole new façade. CMS was approached at an early stage in the project to laser scan and model the building with this information forming the platform of the entire design and documentation process.
This project is a great example of the ongoing benefits of the capture of scan data and the savings in time and money of developing a model of the built form and utilising survey accurate data from the beginning. Continual references to building survey data throughout the development have shown how a point cloud is the ultimate record of a structure and continues to pay dividends through the design and construction processes.
