Abercrombie St, Chippendale
Scan to BIM Model of Heritage Site
CMS Surveyors was invited by award winning Tzannes Architects to create a detailed, survey accurate, record of the existing building on this site and develop a high detail model to support the proposed $10.7 million refurbishment. The site on Abercrombie Street is in the City of Sydney’s Chippendale Conservation Area and is a prominent historical building in the area. For this reason, the development application needed to have a faithful record of the existing structure to accurately develop the new design.
In addition to the subject site, all adjoining buildings were also modelled from scan data to obtain the best use of survey accurate context. In this case, the City’s DA approval noted that the “…design of the addition responds appropriately to the scale and form of the heritage item on the site and of adjoining buildings.”
A scan to BIM model is the first step in achieving an expedited and successful development process.
